2023 Valley Green Q3 Spotlight

Valley Green has seven locations, proudly serving numerous customers across four states in the New England region. Their Albany, NY, location opened in the spring of 2016 and utilizes an 11,000-square-foot facility. Being the only location in New York, Facility Manager Eric Bresky says it provides a unique opportunity to serve customers across the spectrum.

โ€œNew York is a large and diverse green industry marketplace,โ€ said Eric. โ€œBeing in Albany allows us to conveniently and efficiently service a very large footprint in any direction. Our customer base here in the Capital Region, and surrounding area for that matter, all have different visions of what they want for their business and clients.โ€

Eric Bresky has been the Facility Manager at the Albany location since it opened in the spring of 2016. Eric says they know customers have a choice when choosing a preferred distribution partner, which comes with a lot of responsibility on their behalf.

โ€œFully understanding that our competitors are always trying to improve their operations and business relationships, I believe that the one thing that further separates us is our knowledge,โ€ Eric says. โ€œKnowing our products, knowing the needs and expectations of our customers, having an understanding of what drives their business.โ€

When talking about the culture of the Albany location, Eric says they are a well-knit group and love working together to achieve a common goal.

โ€œReacting to changes in industry trends, customer demands, environmental conditions, legislative regulation, and economic patterns all require a level of flexibility so our business can remain viable and continue to grow,โ€ said Eric. โ€œIn Albany, we try to achieve this flexibility through a collaborative, team-based approach where we all work closely together and everyoneโ€™s opinion is valued.โ€

Eric Bresky – Location Manager

Eric started at Valley Green when the facility opened in the spring of 2016. Before working at Valley Green, Eric worked multiple jobs within the golf course industry, including being a golf course superintendent. He spent a few years in sales until he found the opportunity to join Valley Green. Eric loves interacting with customers, colleagues, and vendors and says it is a very relational job.

Since joining Valley Green, Eric says he has learned more about how the industry operates and has matured in his knowledge of it, specifically speaking about how it differs from being on the superintendentโ€™s side of the business. โ€œI tell some of my friends who were former superintendents who have gotten into this side of the business that itโ€™s definitely a lot different on the other side of the desk,โ€ he said.

Eric graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a bachelorโ€™s degree in agriculture, majoring in agronomy and minoring in plant pathology. Eric is originally from Hubbard, Ohio, just northeast of Youngstown, Ohio, right on the Pennsylvania and Ohio border. He loves playing golf in his free time and is a fan of all Cleveland professional sports teams. He loves the Ohio State Buckeyes, saying he โ€œbleeds scarlet and gray.โ€

Joe Edick – Assistant Manager

Joe has worked at Valley Green since the Albany location opened in the summer of 2016. Joe enjoys working at Valley Green because it allows him to do different things across the location. He does desk work, warehouse work, and can drive trucks when needed because he has a Class A commercial driverโ€™s license.

Joe says he is always learning new things and enjoys that aspect of the job. โ€œI did not know that there were so many facets to the lawn and golf industries,โ€ he said. โ€œI didnโ€™t know there were so many diseases that can come and so many other nuances that if youโ€™re not in this business, you donโ€™t know about.โ€

Joe has lived in New York all his life, originally from Utica, and then moved to the Albany area in his teen years. He enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities but loves hunting the most. His favorite sports teams are the New England Patriots and the New York Yankees.
